A scalable label system that grows as fast as the product line does

CHALLENGE AND SOLUTION

From mismatched labels to a unified product system.

El Hormiguero is an artisan bakery with a clear personality and a growing product line — but their packaging didn't reflect it. Each product looked different from the next, with no consistent visual system to tie them together.

The challenge was to design a label system that could scale: one that carried key product information — name, variant, ingredients, social media, and vegan indicator — while establishing a graphic identity strong enough to work across 7 products and multiple variants per product.

Our answer was a modular label system designed as a reusable foundation. Every label follows the same visual language, so any new product El Hormiguero launches in the future will fit naturally into the existing lineup — no redesign needed.

METHODOLOGY AND TOOLS

Built to scale from day one.

We approached this as a system design problem, not just a packaging task. The goal wasn't to design 7 labels — it was to design one flexible template that could adapt to every product and variant without losing coherence.

Key decisions included:

Information hierarchy — product name, variant, ingredients, vegan indicator, and social media handles organized clearly across every label format.

Brand personality — every design choice reflects El Hormiguero's artisan, warm, and authentic character.

Sticker format — all labels designed as stickers applied directly to products, requiring precise sizing and print-ready specs.

Tools used: Adobe Illustrator, Figma.

RESULTS

7 products. Multiple variants. One cohesive system.

El Hormiguero went from inconsistent product presentation to a unified, professional label system across their entire product line.

The deliverables included labels for 7 products, some with up to 7 variants each, all built on a single scalable template. The brand now has a visual foundation ready for every future product launch — no starting from scratch, just plug and play.

The result: products that look as good as they taste.

How we think

At ALUNA labs, we think about systems, not just pieces. For El Hormiguero, the real deliverable wasn't a set of stickers — it was a scalable design infrastructure that gives the brand consistency today and flexibility tomorrow.

Because when a customer picks up any El Hormiguero product, they should feel the same brand — whether it's their first purchase or their tenth.
